first light
This week we adjusted our hours and came in at 6 am on Thursday to avoid the hottest part of the day. I snapped this photo right after I got there. I’ve been mulling over the idea of first light all week:
First light comes slowly. Slinking out of the night so that you don’t notice it at all. The darkness gives way at the edges. Just the softest touch can make it shudder. And it’s a hopeful thought, isn’t it? That the sky might be a touch paler just now. That even before the eye perceives it, the heart can feel the faintest glimmer.
